On October 7, 2025, the official project kick-off between H2APEX and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for the IPCEI project WAL – Hydrogen from Lubmin took place at the Rostock-Laage site. The aim of the project is to build a large-scale electrolysis plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts in Lubmin, which is intended to make a significant contribution to green hydrogen production and the decarbonization of industrial processes.
The management of the project company GHS2 GmbH will be taken over by Falko Budde (H2APEX) and Adalbert Graff (CIP). Both emphasized the strategic relevance of the project for the energy transition and the role of Lubmin as a future hydrogen hub in Northern Germany.
All sub-project managers attended the kick-off and ensured an intensive professional exchange. The meeting was characterized by constructive collaboration, clear goal alignment, and a shared understanding of the next steps. Particularly noteworthy was the dynamic team atmosphere, which was already evident at the outset and lays the foundation for successful project execution.
With the kick-off in Rostock-Laage, a new phase of partnership-based collaboration between H2APEX and CIP begins – with the shared goal of sustainably strengthening the hydrogen economy in Northern Germany and establishing Lubmin as a key location.
